There are a ton of ways to make money online and one of the easiest ways to make money would be getting paid would be to partner up with a company and become an affiliate.
If a company accepts you as an affiliate, they will provide you with a special link. This link will usually open the company's website where the customer can buy something. If a customer buys, the company will award the affiliate with a commission (or something similar like gift cards/vouchers).
Here are a few tips I would give my affiliates:
- It is never a good idea to just drive traffic through the link and expect someone to randomly buy a service.
- It is better to understand the service and try to target specific people who might benefit from it
- Once you find someone who might benefit from the product/service, don't just send them the link without saying anything. Start a conversation and pull out your sales skills
- Remember that if you're able to find someone a product/service that they can benefit from, you're actually doing them a favour!
Here is an example of the best case scenario:
You're browsing Instagram per usual when you spot an account that has lots of followers, good content and regular posts. What you notice is that they have highlights but, they don't have attractive covers. This would be the best moment to slide in their DMs with a friendly;
"Hello, I bumped into your account and noticed you didn't have eye catching highlight covers for your highlights. Is this something you're planning to do - I can recommend someone if you like?"
It would be tempting to just copy/paste your referral link at this point and go away but, that isn't the best practice. Ideally, you would want to build a rapport with that person before telling them to go buy something. Maybe that person will never reply, but if they do, they will be more inclined to listen to you
It is a bit different for bigger salesIf you're trying to land bigger sales like the 24-hour shoutout service (which can earn you up to £50 from 1 sale) then it isn't as simple as direct messaging them. You would want to maybe buy them a coffee and explain the benefits of social media. You would want to research their market and explain why a small investment in this service could show them a bigger profit in the long run.
At the end of the day...
Becoming an affiliate can be a very lucrative opportunity but it isn't for everyone. Not everyone can be a math teacher, not everyone can be an actor and in the same way, not everyone can be an influencer/affiliate.
However, you will never know unless you try :)
